That's the other thing which I think Volvo should be shot for, the intrusiveness of trim creaks and rattles on what was an expensive top of the line model back in its day. I've owned two and they've both been as bad as each other. I didn't experience it in my V70 or XC70 which felt vastly superior in terms of trim quality.

With regards to the load cover, I run with mine in situ and extended and so far have had no issues with rattles but I know that some certainly have.

With regards to interior build quality particularly the quality of the leather on the seats, I have to agree with you entirely.

My 2005 facelift XC70 was way better in every respect. Even with 182k miles on it the seats ( including drivers ) showed no discernible wear , even on the drivers bolster.

It just felt a better screwed together car although the XC90 suits my needs more.

XC70 drivers seat.

All sorted picking up tomorrow after work, I've even ordered a genuine missing dummy 12v holder for the rear seats, couldn't do with having a blank space there when not in use, would drive me crazy.

Circular reference I know but I'll second that. I've not known such quality in car seat leather either before or after that of the 2003 V70 I owned. Not even the Autobiography Range Rovers I've viewed better it.

I genuinely wish, given what I eventually received for it in trade in, that I'd scrapped it for parts and up-cycled the front seats as a pair of arm/desk chairs.

My 10 year old XC90 with 85k miles has a drivers seat that looks like yours: minimal wear

Trick to long life is keeping it out of the sun, and treating the leather at least 1x a year, and best 3x a year

Swiss that seat pictured was from my XC70 and the simple fact is that the leather on that is of better quality that my XC90.

That said, my XC90 seats are still in very good condition ( Black ) and I regularly treat them to Gliptone which is a brilliant treatment as well as smelling of leather.

Finally picked up my XC90 on Friday evening, great drive so far to work and back and managed to squeeze in a trip to IKEA in the pouring rain effortlessly. I'll get some pics up today.

Thanks again to everyone for the advice.

I ask you, outside of ABBA and fermented herring, could anything be *more* Swedish?

Enjoy.

Haha I didn't even realise the little one has been after a new desk for a while and it's his birthday tomorrow so I thought what a better way to utilise the space available
