Default XC60 Caliper rewind tool

Looking for a caliper rewind tool for my 2013 xc60. Not sure which one to get that will work with my brakes. Has anyone got one that they can recommend?

I just used a g-clamp to do my S60. You need quite a wide one for the rear due to the position of the handbrake motor, probably around 200mm from memory.

I bought this one to use on the rear calipers a while ago. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...57939&_sacat=0

The rear calipers move straight in and don't need to rotate. However you do need an attachment with either a smooth surface or 3 prongs. The smooth surface fitting on the tool I bought worked well. Would be difficult to use a G clamp on the rear caliper due to the plastic epb motor casing.

Don't see why it wouldn't be fine on the front brakes too.

I've got one of these.

It'll cope with pretty much all the caliper and piston designs you'll ever come across...... and they're cheap.

I use a pry bar or tyre lever to push pistons back. Never needed any special tools.

That's because you've only had deal with push in pistons.
With many caliper and piston designs a pry bar and tyre lever will do nothing.

On the v/xc60 like the v/xc70 you don't wind the pistons back in - they just push straight back in. As nulleaf says you can just use a prybar or big screwdriver between the sliding caliper and the pad.

However, and this may be where you are thinking about a special tool, you do have to wind back the electric parking brake before you can push back the piston. There are three ways to do this:
1/ use the VIDA computer diagnostic system
2/ remove the parking brake motor and use a torx bit to wind back the EPB ( this is the official method if you don't have access to VIDA), as described in the instructions included in the box with original volvo pads.
3/ remove the connector from the back of the caliper and use a battery (9v fire alarm battery will do) and some short cables to electrically wind back the EPB. This is my preferred method. There are a few threads in xc60 and xc70 sections describing the process.
