Default Handbrake cable problems

Hi guys,

It has been a while since I posted a question here. My little beauty has been running very well..touch wood it will continue to do so. I just have one little problem to do with the adjustment of the handbrake. I adjust the handbrake and it works perfectly for 2 - 3 weeks and then I find that I have to take off the wheeels and adjust/tighten the whole lot up again. The handbrake cables are new (2 months old). Is there something failing that I need to replace. What about those "pistons" that I adjust everytime throught the brake disc? Could these be the source of my problem?

Any help would be cery much appreciated.

Best Regards,

Colm

You may have a similar problem to a recent posting (No.12528) where the linings parted from the shoes and were rotating in the drum and jamming, then if you back off the adjuster they free off and you have to adjust again, and so on!! The 'pistons' are just screw adjusters to set the linings close to the drums, they should be about a half turn off rubbing, but loosen the cable adjusters at the hanbrake lever first.

Good luck

Handbrake problems, they're so much fun! See my recent posting on the subject...

Best of luck.
