A bit off topic but I do have a d24. Is the m90 on the d24 different from other m90's. Mine is a little noise in 1st at low speed .
Mine also seems to be incredibly short geared!

i think the casings are different between petrol and derv but i really dont know.
yes my other old d24tic was very short geared 70mph was hard work as it revved high.
if your first is a bit noisy this might the best thing to as a spare .http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/images...s/tongwink.png

How many miles has yours done and has the gearbox oil been changed?

My box is making more noise than I'd like even after an oil change , its a shame you are so far from me and I bet a courier would be a fortune.

Probably cheaper than a gearbox rebuild though which is your other option.

Couriers aren't that expensive, it was about £55 to get an engine sent on a pallet a few years ago.

I think it's a diesel box so should be a straight swap. The courier prices these days are mental. I went to Derby the other week to get leather seats but I really can't be bothered doing that again.
