Im wondering if i still have an issue with the cluster, as i have also noticed the instruments lights have changed brightness on there own a few times and have had a very occasional indicator light stall.

really want this srs message gone.
Is it worth trying a code clear, followed by a battery disconnect 20 minutes or so after ignition turn off?

Followed by a safe re-connect after a few hours later; it would have the effect of code clearance/code clean and a cold reset which just might tip the balance.

I can clear the code with the reader i have however it is a current fault so comes straight back.

ill give the battery off reset a try.

code is SRS-00D4 which from what i can find could be the warning triangle which has yellow, orange and red led's Cant recall seeing the orange colour, the other two work though.

cheers

What OBD reader are you using?
If its VIDA you have - then you can follow the fault trace function in it.
You can test all kind of things.
Could it be a ground problem on the SRS circuite somewhere?
There doesnt need to be much corrotion before the SRS circuite puts a fault code.

If you dont have Vida - perhaps tell us exactly wat car you have, +year modell and someone could check out what that fault code means in Vida.
Is it permanent or intermittent?

its a autel 619 - which can read and clear srs faults.

the code is SRS-00D4 SRS indicator lamp. Faulty function. Permanent fault

The code is common for when the clocks go faulty. - Just to note i odnt have any warning lights or the triangle on when driving, its just the srs warning message on the display.

is a 2002 v70, d5 - clocks have been to sent for repair in the last few months after the failed - im thinking they have not been 100% repaired.

ive not got vida unfortnunatly

What does the repair facility say? Or the person who did it? Did they leave a warranty? Was it someone who knows what they are doing? Ive heard of horror stories of people putting the whole dash electric board in a oven and destroying just about anything on it in that process.
In Vida you have the possibility to turn on different DIM functions to see that they perform correctly.
There is also different programs, one can use to check out the DIM on bench.
Id start with the repair person at first.

Interesting posts , my instrument panel is really DIM !! If I go into an underground car park ,(No lights on ) the panel lights up really bright, tried the Dimmer switch but that doesn't do much at all . What can it be ?

I think your the dash lights are set to auto adapt which overrides the dimmer switch setting - there's a light sensor built into the central control panel pre-facelift or in the back of the mirror panel post face-lift.

Previous v70 year 2002 had DIM problems. Sent to BBA Reman for repair fast turnaround
Sold the car but it's still on the road with 180k miles on it. Common problem it would seem.

There is a firm in Waltham Cross Herts that will remove repair and replace in about 3 hrs

Had my one done about 4 years ago IIRC about 70.00

I think they will also do postal repairs
