Default S40 VIN from which rating applies

Dear all, what does the sentence "VIN from which rating applies YV1MS684152045204, YV1MW664252040123" in S40 rating page (euroNCAP site) is for?

Thanks!

It means that the results are valid for all S40s with the VIN number range between YV1MS684152045204 and YV1MW664252040123. I'm not too sure on the structure of these numbers, but i'm sure someone can shed some more light on that!

Thanks, and do you know if S40 crash test results are valid also for V50 model?

I should think that the frontal protection will be similar as the S40, V50 are almost identical in structural design. Rear protection may be different to the V50 having a different rear end. Until they release some specific results for the V50 then it's hard to say for definite. I can't see it being any worse though.

Totally agree that the NCAP test results can be different depending on test specifications and standards. I still think that both the S40 and V50 are designed around the same platform, so even if there are minor differences in test results, they are very similar cars and should perform about the same in crash tests. Obviously some NCAP results would clear it up once and for all though
