2.0D practicable fuel figures please
Hi all this is my first post.
I am about to move from VW to Volvo in January I am going to buy the 1.6 D or 2.0D. VW are extremely good on fuel averaging between 45-50. I want to know practicable volvo fuel figures rather than the manufactures figures. I would say i drive normally 80-85 on the motorway, and am currently swayed towards the 2.0D c30, what fuel economy can I expect from a 07 plate c30. Any help from 2.0D users will be great. |

2.0D S40, 33-35 driving hard, lots of hills etc.., 36/37 on short local journeys, 39/40ish on main roads, 42-45 on motorway only driving. may be more on the c30 as a smaller car.

I've a V50 2.0D SE with 19K on the clock. I average about 45mpg with a few long runs. However, around town it drops to about 33-37mpg MAX. Have managed 52mpg on a long trip up the m6, not going over 75mph.
I think fuel economy is poor really. I came from a 1.9TDI golf which, although wasn't as fast, would consistantly do 55mpg+ no matter how you drove it. |

I have a three-month old C30 2.0D with 6200 miles on it. Engine is fine, with a sometimes lumpy idle and pulls strongly from 1600 rpm or so.
Cold weather and winter diesel aren't the best for MPG but mine will produce high 40's in 5th or 6th once the engine has warmed through. I would expect low 50's in summer. Two points of note: it takes the engine oil about 20 minutes to warm up thouroughly, and maximum economy only comes with a warm engine, and 5th is often more economical than 6th e.g. on motorway inclines. This may change as the engine loosens up a bit more. I had a Skoda Fabia vRS before my C30, and the Volvo's diesel is quieter, stronger and altogether more refined than the VW 1.9 130 BHP unit. |

My car is V50 E4 2.0D se.
Averaged to date approx 49.5 mpg with 44k on clock. Mostly used on motorway. Best mpg was on hot summers day on long trip 250 miles ; got 66mpg (computer said 72mpg), but I was trying v hard for this (50mph all up M1 and no queuing traffic). typical trip around m25 outside rush hour should see 55 -60 mpg indicated on computer, but you have to go no more than 60mph to achieve this. Would agree with last post re 6th gear and warming engine up properly. Also would add that usual other things apply, service, tyre pressures, no excessive weight and most of all driving styles. On this last point, if you drive at about 80-85 I'd expect you to get approx 40mpg and not much more. |

I have 2005 2.0D with 6 speed manual and if i cruise at 70 i get 50+MPG.
6 gear is good for 70+, it dont like it otherwise.

drove a C30 2.0D for today as a replacement car for my Xc70.. and didn't see better than 40mpg and I was really really careful as the dealer had left zero in the tank..
I thought it felt rough compared to my previous Audi A3 diesel.. which had both a decent performance and fuel consumption that matched or bettered the manufacturer numbers.. volvo doesn't seem to respect the owners by quoting such optimistic figures as it does..
