https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184966377680 Main dealer diagnostic charge is really a deterrent - Volvo have pushed so much electronics into their cars that we all get lights from time to time and dealerships don't want hoards of us rocking up every time we get a dash light. They'd rather focus on attracting those with deeper pockets browsing the latest models in the s****y showroom. Some more complex problems may require Volvo specific (VIDA) diagnostic software and for this you need either an independent Volvo specialist or a main dealer/approved service centre. Is it the check engine light? Is it showing amber or red?
Is the car driving OK (ie not going into limp mode). |

No, and we tried that by driving at 60mph an the motorway starting from 'D' and then switching from 'D' over to the 'S' and then pressing the '-' to drop down gears until we were driving in 3rd gear at 60mph with the engine screaming (at 4000rpm) for 50 miles hoping the light would go out.
Unfortunately, it didn't. |

You need to read the dtc that has triggered the light. |

Sounds like you're about to block the dpf.
1 bottle of fuel cleaner in at least half a tank, another long drive. Also check your adblue level in case it's low. Check hoses and pipes going to and from the turbo, a nice spot of wet greasy oil will indicate a split even if you can't see it. Last edited by SnineT; Sep 30th, 2022 at 19:37. |
