S60: General - Fuel Pump

Hello,

I was wondering whether anyone else had experienced the same problem as me with my 2011 S60 SE Lux Auto Diesel car.

The car has been fabulous since new, only done 31500 miles and has only needed tyres changing until a couple of days ago. I put the car into my garage and the following day the engine turned over but it wouldn't start.

The AA came out and diagnostics showed no issues and so it had to be towed to my local (non Volvo garage) because we thought the fuel filter, that was fitted on 2/3/19 at its MOT, was faulty. The garage has since told me they believe the fuel pump has failed and needs replacing at a cost of £977, including £500 for parts.

The garage also said there was a Volvo recall for this fault according to the internet but Volvo UK says there has been no recall. I can see the blog I read looked as though it related to the USA.

The options they've given me are (1) get local garage to fix the problem for £977 or (2) tow and pay for car to be towed across the road to the Volvo dealer so they can diagnose fault at a cost of £138 and then they will estimate fixing costs. Volvo UK might give me a goodwill payment for part of the cost if it is a problem they recognise.

I would be interested to hear from other drivers who may have experienced this problem and how is was sorted out and whether Volvo made any contribution.
