Default Suspension recommendations

Hi
Looking to change the shocks etc on my V50 after 16 years as they are pretty rusty.
Does anyone have any recommendations as to brand, I see Bilstein look good or have you stayed with genuine or any other makes?
Many thanks.

Nothing to recomend but..
will be doing the same to my s40 soon.
With mine there is sports, comfort, and some other type of shocks/springs.. not sure is v50 is also like that but if so will probably want to match it to avoid some crazy new handling.

Dont forget the mounts for shockers can be deteriorating at this point aswell, and possibly other bushes/ball joints etc

Thanks.
Just want to keep it as it is. Yes it’ll have the mounts as well.

I replaced all of ours with Sachs. All good. Only comment I'd make if you go for Sachs is go standard all round. I put heavy duty on the rear and, while they are stiffer as I required, for some unknown reason they are shorter than standard so the rear sits fractionally lower than the front which looks pants. Ultimately, our car is a mobile shed so I can't say I'm that bothered but if you care about the looks of your car you might ;-)

I have just fitted Koni Active and they are a cross between a comfort and a sport. In corners really good and it does not go all over the place so much any more. I bought mine from a company called Balance Motorsport google them and you will find their site. Julian has a love for suspension so if you call him he will help you.

This year I got all my springs and shocks replaced, all purchased from Parts For Volvo. Bilstein B4s and the springs were listed on PFV as "OEM quality part" turned out to be Meyle, which I'm more than happy with

Did you go for top mounts and if you did were they the Volvo ones or something else?
