hi all
as a lot of us know with these cars there are lots of potential gremlins not that hard to fix until you get say a dash board issue like me it can be fixed if you can find the right people like most things on these cars so I'm just saying you will be lucky whatever you buy 940s not to have issues going on but we can fix a lot ourselves with the help of this really good forum .
so £3500 with everything working for now pretty rare i would say.
my 940 diesel I'm keeping it as long as i can keep fixing it

Thats the thing though, sure a dash fix may be a little tricky to sort out, but. You CAN do it all yourself, even if it means another set of clocks or re soldering a dry joint, with basic mechanical knowledge, any niggle on a diesel volvo can be fixed. And for comparably cheap prices, if you compare it to a D5 v70 for example ? Or an audi estate. 2.5 grand for a set of injectors.. no thanks, i would rather shell out the extra 10p a mile or whatever it is, using more fuel !

A 740, 940 , 960 or any rwd volvo with an blown Om606 would be ideal in my view, so perhaps its a perceived reliability issue that keeps the price down? which is good for Volvo nutters , or haters in the case of the D24.

My car has saved me £3500 this year so in effect it owes me nothing and it will keep returning that figure as long as it keeps going. So for me it possibly is worth £2500 or there about's.

A friend of mine deals in vintage Hi-Fi and punts equipment at prices I wouldn't ever dream of doing but he sells it. 1970's Pioneer CS-903 speakers for £850 ! They were never worth THAT much and sound rubbish. but good luck to him

The om603 and om606 are fantastic!!
But yes, why does a car that rusts more and has bits that costs more, end up being worth 3-4 times what a volvo is worth.

And there will be the same niggles with this car at some point in its future, i can almost guarantee it. It wasnt somehow made to a higher standard than all the rest. This is volvo we are talking about.... not british leyland ! Haha

Im fairly new to this game, you guys have been doing this a lot longer than i have, what is the best d24 equipped car you ever saw ? And what did it sell for? The best i saw was a red estate, about this time last year actually, it was 1500 quid and had 135k miles and full service history, looked real good.

On a side note
In the advert for the other blue estate we ar keeping an eye out for, it has a note about 'how many left.com' it says there are only 11 left. Well thats bollocks for a fact, because i have 4 of em, and i know of at least 8 of you guys plus the 3 that are up for sale now and the dozen or so that have come up for sale this last year.... so where the hell do they get their figures from ?

I think he may be referring t the fact that it's a Classic spec rather than Base/L/S/SE/GLE. If that's the case, then it's definitely not "top of the range model".

Yes, another bullsh**ing seller making an idiot of themselves by showing how little they know about these cars in front of those that DO.....

Will,

You may be new to this game but it's great to see such enthusiasm for the 700/900 and in particular the D24. In a short time you have already overtaken some of us with what you have been up to lol!!

Yes, I remember that red 940 SE. It was from a trader who advertises very good condition Volvos regularly.

This is the best spec car I've seen......

Only this has had less owners and a full service history.

Lets see what happens with it. My 2p says it will make around a grand, owing to its service history, what do we reckon ?

Bloody hell Will, you must have a crystal ball because you were bang on the money with this one, literally. It's just ended at £1020......!
