2005 V70 failed mot on rubber mounts... HELP
Hi there, new to the forum and was wondering if you guys could help me out with what bushes the examiner was on about that need changing..... on my failure list it states:
anti-roll bar rubber mounting deteriorated resulting in excessive movement (both rear D bushes) - how hard of a job is this to do? and the other one im totally lost with is: Suspension arm rubber mounting deteriorated resulting in excessive movement nearside and offside front lower (rear bush). now looking on google and searching for a while im getting very confused with what bush or even rubber mount hes referring to.... is it the mount or the bush and what do i need to do to sort it out..... Please could somebody point me in the right way as im totally confused at this stage much appreciated! |

I would get them all replaced with powerflex standard bushes. don't need to ever worry about them after that.
the anti roll bar bushes are a bit of a pig to get to. the control arm ones are relatively easy. one thing to be careful of is when you take the 2 bolts out of the control arm and unbolt the ball joint, you can end up with the drive shaft popping out of the gearbox, as the whole strut will move freely. edit: just looked at those control arms and they are different to the 850. but: https://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-ser...29-2615/1.html

I find when you run 45 profiles bushes make little difference either way. just don't get the black ones as these are almost solid.

You know, on 45s, at the moment I'm running 34psi front and 31psi rear
which is pretty much C70 tyre placard figures single to three occupants which on 50/50 highway and decent road driving over distance and traffic you can handle, I get a pretty good ride but then with 60-80kg of dive gear strewn pretty evenly throughout the car mainly in the boot with a 120kg lump driving the front end lightens up, still with pretty much full control, and the ride smooths right out. So more different pressures to come, bit more in the rears first to lift it up and tip the balance forwards. So the moral of the story is what we find is beautiful, beautiful in their own ways and I'm not particularly partial to yachts
