Default 7 seat conversion

I have a V70 (D50) 2003 model , I want to put the 7 seat conversion in.

Is it just a bolt in job and does anyone have one they wish to sell?

Thanks

I've seen a few on ebay but they go for around the £80-130 mark. They do just bolt in but according to the book they are only designed for kids up to a certain weight.

Seen a couple there, does that mean I need to fit another set of seat belts too?

To be legal, yes. The belts and bolts should be included in whatever kit you acquire. If there are trim pieces (say, at the roof mounting points) be sure to get them as well. Kira

Its worth downloading the fitting instructions from the Volvo website. You will be able to see what parts you need from the donor vehicle. There's quite a bit of stuff that's not obvious like the rails from under the floor.

When you refit the seatbelts you need new bolts. New ones are pre-treated with thread-lock.

Mine has these fitted and they are very handy and it's why I got the car in the first place. As said above, you do need a complete kit, not just the seat and belts. Mine was factory fitted and has an internal handle to open the tailgate which was part of the kit.

From memory, they are for up to 140cm and 30kg

I fitted a set to a 2003 V70 taken from a 2001 V70 , its an easy job and takes less than 2 hours. If you can get a set for less than £130 complete with seat belts and modified floor panels its a bargain as they can sell for up to £350 despite the original option price being around £600 but you need the rear internal tailgate release parts as well and many sellers do not include them. I have now removed the seats as the kids were too big for them when they were around 8 years old.

Going back to the issue of being legal, I think from memory, you must also fit the extra key lock on the outside of the tailgate. If you want the key matching to the rest of the car, this part will have to come from Volvo.

And a release handle on the inside of the door. Also you must inform your insurance company of the change to 7 seats. Regards Peter
