Intro and a couple of issues
Hi All.
I'm a lurker, just joined. Bought a 2001 2.5l diesel last year and generally love driving it. A couple of weeks ago, I was happily driving, turning off a main road and the car coughed Thereafter, it wouldn't rev above 2500rpm. The road I was on is very steep. I managed to get the car up the hill and parked up. Went about my business. On returning to the car, same, no revving above 2500. When I get home, I googled the symptoms and stumbled across a YT video which suggested removing the , we'll, I'm going to call it a breather tube, from their filter box. It's a small diameter tube which joins into a T splitter. When I removed it , there was a sound of escaping air, like it was /is a vacuum. Anyway, popped it back on and...... The car was able to rev past 2500 and was a pleasure to drive. However, it's since happened again. The good news is that I can reset it by using the same method but that's not really sustainable. I've seen similar threads but nothing that specifically mentions the temporary fix. So, does anyone have an idea what that tube from the top of the air filter is? Why, by removing it would it reset the issue I had? What should I look at for a more permanent fix? Thanks. Just as an aside. The blower fan stopped working this week. I don't use the car an awful lot so wondered if it had just got stuck Wow, it's difficult to get to!! Eventually, got it out from the foot well and gave it a spin with my hands. Reconnected it, and it runs great. Common issue? Cheers |

In which case I suggest that you post in the correct section, this is for V70 up to 1999, the later models have a different engine in the diesel.
