S60 Keyless Door Lock Failure
My 2012 S60 R-Design went into my chosen dealer in February 2015 for its final end of warranty service. I had informed the dealer that the rear nearside door would no longer work via the keyless system and also the front nearside was the same but was intermittent.
They replaced the rear nearside but not the front because it didn't show up as a fault on their checks. Now two months on, the front nearside has completely stopped working via the keyless system. After the dealer checked it out today they informed me that three handles needed to be replaced and there were faults showing up in the wiring loom which also needs to be replaced. The dealer said they would speak to Volvo about this to see if they would pay for these repairs but added that Volvo may only offer to pay a percentage! I'm not impressed... a three year old Volvo with door handles and wiring looms that need to be replaced and Volvo expect the customer to pay for what many would consider poor quality design and/or manufacturing! I'll let you all know what Volvo decide. Baler |

S60 Keyless Door Lock Failure
Well after sending a letter to Volvo UK to complain about their decision and explain my circumstances and asking them to re-consider, they agreed to carry out the repairs but not completely without charge to me.
Volvo agreed to pay for 90% with the condition that the dealer and myself paid 5% each which for me amounted to £37, I don't know why they imposed this condition but I accepted. Picked car up today all done with new door handles, antennas and new cabling. The guy at the dealers told me that as I paid towards these repairs the parts would now have a 12 month warranty whereas if I hadn't then they wouldn't have... I don't know why this is! Good result for me which proves that sometimes it pays to challenge unfair decisions, lets hope no more problems with my Volvo. Baler |

Keyless Issues
Baler,
Thanks for your post. My 2011 V60 R-Design polestar has had multiple problems with the keyless entry over the past couple of years. Under warrenty they changed the rear drivers handle and everything worked fine for a while. Then (after warrenty period had elapsed!!) all doors became intermittant. Now only the boot works. Having read you post though i will endeavour to speak to the garage and see if they will honour the sewrvice you received. I'll keep you posted. |
