Revert from space saver to gunk
I've just purchased a my2018 rdesign that has the space saver wheel fitted. Now whilst this is great it does take up a lot of boot space. I asked the salesperson before buying about removing it and was told you can just take the wheel and foam out and the board fits where the foam was. Having tried this it does not really fit and there is a gap where the rear seats are and rides up again towards the rear seats so does not sit flush.
Whilst I was in having a window rubber replaced I asked the parts person if there was an option to revert it to the inflation kit boot layout for those journeys with a four big suitcases. I was told no. Whilst this maybe the case I was not convinced since the model came without the space saver unless specified. So, do anyone know if it is possible and what is needed if it can be done. I'm not after a debate about the pros and cons please. |

I took my 2011 S60 in the opposite direction. The space saver needed a new floor fitment to accommodate the jack, wheel brace and other bits and also required a new floor cover. When trying (!) to fit it I noticed that although the tray went into the right place it wasn't a great fit and moved around. On more careful examination I saw that there were very small 'clips' and after some jiggling managed to get them to clip into somewhere that can't be seen. The fitting now locked into place the new floor panel finally fitted onto the base correctly.
Long winded, sorry! Try and try again. There may be a 'correct' and a 'wrong' way. As usual there are rarely instructions! |
