Default Thinking of selling 2006 XC90 D5 Exec

Please don't think i'm a timewaster......As the title says, i'm thinking of selling my beloved XC90. I'm trying to gauge what people think the market is like, so i know whether to hold on until autumn/winter if its likely to sell better.

She is a 2006 (06) D5 185 BHP XC90.
She was registered on 1/03/2006 so falls within the cheaper tax bracket - (£280 for 12 months).
Shes a 6 speed geartronic.

It is Metalic Gray with 103000 miles on the clock.
Full dealer service history to March 2009, then went to Independent Volvo Specialist. Last Garage service was in 2011. I have serviced it as per Volvo recommendations since - and have receipts to prove. Last fully synthetic oil (Castrol Edge) was in March 2013.
MOT to March 2014 - only advisory was the front Wishbone bush. I did ask the Independent to repair this, but his view was that although its an advisory he doesn't think it is worth doing yet.

It has had new Nokian tyres last November and there are still 8mm left on all of them.
New brake pads/discs/fluid all round in Autumn 2011.

It has been remapped with an MTE package which takes power to 220bhp and torque to 500+NM according to Kalmer-Union who supplied the software. If the buyer did not want this i can arrange for it to be put back to standard. The mid range grunt is certainly improved.

It has dark smoke rear passenger and boot compartment which was professionally done.

It has a tow bar which has only been used for a bike carrier. Also have the VOlvo aero roofbars. THese could be included at the right price.

Inside, it benefits from full Executive soft grey leather with white piping. It has the deep pile carpets; sat nav (this currently has an error so i am arranging repair this week/next week). All other sound system (6 cd dash changer, mini disc, fm radio) which is the top volvo sound system with the subwoofer all work well. It has rear seat sound system too on the C pillar.

It has a fridge and phone which both work and the climate control comes through ice cold.

It had 2 new genuine HID bulbs last december.

It currently has a DVD/MP4 system which takes video to the aftermarket rear tv screens. This could be left for the right price.

I've attached a photo of the car. This was taken after i gave it a good clean last year. I am planning on getting her professionally cleaned/valeted/details prior to sale.

MPG wise - we only do 8-10k per year (town work during the week with a 30 mile trip at weekend to keep the DPF working okay). She does around 25mpg on this basis. On a steady trip to London doing 65 last year i got 34mpg but this was driving carefully. When we've been to France doing 80mph (ish) most of the way she'll return 30mpg when fully loaded.

Reason for sale - my 3 kids are now growing up (7/5/2) so i think i can manage with a 5 series/A6/V70 estate so i plan to switch to one of these over the coming months.

Price wise - i've looked on Autotrader and Ebay and they seem to come in from £11k to £15k for similar age/spec/mileage, so i had around £13000 in the back of my mind but happy to hear feedback (i know it sounds a bit high for a 7 year old car but that what some are asking for (sellings a different matter) on those sites. As mentioned i am testing the water at this stage and if i did sell i'd let anyone interested on here know first before going on trader/ebay.

Thanks very much. Any questions please ask.

ps - has anyone on here come from an A6/E60 Estate to an XC90? WHat were your thoughts on those? I was eyeing up 3 litre diesels

Hi, I'm looking for an XC90 and there is currently an 06 D5 SE with 106k miles on Autotrader for £8775. If yours had half the miles you could expect £10 maybe.

Hi if this helps I bought my March 2006 (low tax) SE D5 Auto in November from a specialist 4x4 dealer for £12300 with 59K, full volvo history, warranty and the best condition I had seen. I had been looking around and think I paid on the high side, but it was really nice so decided it was worth it.
I would not pay too much attention to the autotrader prices without seeing the cars first as having looked at 10 plus cars, most were really rough on the inside, despite the photos looking good.
On a different point I am after a cycle rack, is yours going spare?

thanks for the info. I've decided to keep it, and get the entire audio system replaced instead of repairing the satnav as I'm a bit nervous about the ICM going. I'm doing this because after careful consideration i'd find it difficult to downsize to an A6/E60/V70.

I'm going to keep the bike carrier for the timebeing. If you're after one i'd recommend contacting FRF Volvo in Swansea as the Volvo ones are identical to the Thule, but were cheaper than Thule. Mine carries 3, but you can get the add on for the 4th.

Its rock solid, but a tad heavy as I keep mine hung up on the garage wall, but a lot easier than when I was using the roof cycle carriers.
