Default Speed camera audio warning is now silent

Until recently I use to get an audio ping when the speed camera warning symbol appeared on my dash (MY20 Sensus). You could always hear it above any music / radio you were listening to - now no sound whatsoever just the symbol. I've looked in the settings but to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this? My car did go in for its service in early July, thinking that it may have been altered on a Volvo software update, but I'm sure I've heard it since then.

Have you checked the navigation settings, I think the setting is in there for speed camera alerts. And check the sound settings are turned up high enough in system settings.

Thanks for the response Nu11eaf. Yeah I checked that and it was ticked in Nav settings. All the sound options are at least at normal / high levels too. I thought it might be one of those Volvo quirks that would sort itself out when I restarted the car but alas no.

Just confirming that the audio ping is still working on my V90 (MY20) which has the latest software. I think it only pings when it is in route guidance mode.

It was very strange yesterday. In the morning mine wasn’t pinging and it kept on losing the little red speed limit mark on the speedo and road sign etc, yesterday evening it was pinging and all road sign speeds shown 🤷

UPDATE: So my car went back to the dealer today as they said they'd been in contact with Volvo and they would need a full day to update the software to sort the speed camera audio alert fault. Car just been dropped off and still not working because the technician now says that the audio speed camera chime has been removed for legal reasons at the last software update (had service in July). Seems a very odd excuse as the visual sign still comes up, but often you don't see it when you are concentrating on driving - so a safety retrograde step by Volvo? I've called Volvo UK and they didn't seem aware of it, so now awaiting for them to come back to confirm...not holding out. Why???

I got a new MY22 S60 a few weeks ago and the ping works fine. Latest software too.

My V90 pings regardless of being in navigation mode or not. MY17, using the software that was available when it was last serviced in January 2021.

I had a Merc, same issue no pings for cameras, they too claimed it was a legal restriction, to do with various countries banning such devices.

I noted that the car could work out for itself when it was in France, but to no avail.

I bought a small GPS device, plugged into USB for power, its only purpose was to beep when you approached a camera, or beep a lot if you approached too quickly.

Nothing to do with the OP's issue but just as an aside, I don't get any speed camera warnings in Ireland but as soon as I drive of the ferry in Scotland I start to get them. I guess it's a legal requirement in Ireland. I don't remember getting any in Northern Ireland either, but maybe there aren't any cameras on the motorway there.
Of course if the system were really clever it would switch from KPH to MPH at the border.
