Well, the (light switch panel) bulbs in my phase 2 certainly dim, and I'm certain that the bulbs in my last two phase 2 cars also dimmed - OP states that his car is a 2002 so I'm assuming it is a (Mk1) phase 2, not a phase 1?

Could it be the problem?

I think the problem is the wattage - I replaced mine with Lucas LLB286TFB1 (12V 1.2W) - there's a big difference between my 1.2W and your 14W! Not surprised they're bright!

SORRY - IGNORE THE ABOVE - JUST REALISED YOURS ARE 1.4W NOT 14W! (I was going on the text in the URL above, hadn't seen the photo of the box label in your previous photo) However, I still think that the (slightly) increased voltage and wattage could account for the bulbs being so much brighter - I would definately try to source some 12V 1.2W bulbs.

ilikewatch, my problem is:

Quote:
the potentiometer that adjusts the luminous intensity of the dashboard does not work on the section that you can see in the photo, which is always on at the maximum
That section with the light buttons is allways 100% brightness.

Do your cars, past or present, work this way?

On my current car the intensity of these lights can be adjusted, I'm also 99% certain that this was the case with my previous 2 cars.

Ulver,
I don't know where you got it but a car has 12 v stationary and up to 14.5v while driving. So 12 v or 14 v bulbs is not an issue. Also a LED lights up at 3 v but must be current regulated not tension regulated unless you have one with a resistor buil in and so works on 12 v.

^ ^ ^

So why some of these cars can dim that lights and others can't?

For example:

Me - can't dim - replacement bulbs

ITSv40 - can't dim - genuine bulbs

ilikewatch - can dim - ???

shell51 - can dim - ???

I don't know what bulbs ilikewatch and shell51 have, but me and ITSv40 have the same "issue" but with differnt bulbs, so I guess they can not be the problem.

Am I missing something?

ps: my V40 is imported from Germany
