Default EGR / Pulsair etc...

I recently removed my Pulsair and EGR systems and associated piping. I had heard that they had little impact on actual emmissions and I wanted to clean up my engine bay.

After pulling them I had a look at the pipe bores and they were all pretty clogged, but still open. There was no detrimental effect on the running of the car. I went for my MoT on Saturday and put it all to the test, here are the results;

Co - (3% allowed) - Actual value 0.1%
HC - (1200 ppm allowed) - Actual value 342 ppm.

This represents a drop in carbon monoxide and a slight rise from 275 in hydrocarbons. So, if you want to pull these systems I would go right ahead!

Cheers,

Rob

What did you do to block off the holes in the head/exhaust where it meets the pulsair system?

And the EGR pipe where it joins the exhaust manifold, and the other end at the inlet manifold?
And the plastic port at the air cleaner box?

I cut the heads of some M8 A2 coachbolts, filled the port with gungum and clamped with the pulsair clamps (see attached)

I changed to a different exhaust manifold with the EGR blanked off. Inlet manifold and airbox as per attached and in subsequent post.

Cheers guys.
