I had cause to call VA about 10 months after new purchase. There was a bit of a discussion about the cover as the reg number was unknown to them, a V70*** one. I couldn't remember the number it was first registered with but sorted it out with the VIN and they amended their records (allegedly) and renewal offer came through OK.
I guess the greater majority of Volvos stay on their first registration plate and plate change is an irritation to the "system".

Just had my car serviced and I've been given 12 months "SARA" (Service Activated Roadside Assistance). My original 12 months I got when I bought the car new expired last October and I didn't renew it. I'm led to believe that I should receive details in the post from Mondial, so I'll give it a month and chase it up if nothing comes through the post. Thanks for the heads up that this is worth keeping an eye on.

Mine has just been serviced and the service papers told me I was covered and gave the phone number to use if required before paperwork was sent out by Mondial. I spoke to Mondial who confirmed I would receive a pro ratae refund from the date of the service. Mondial expected 2-3 weeks to receive details from the garage.

The car was serviced on the 18th April and two days ago I received the Volvo Assist paperwork and card. I contacted Mondial yesterday to discuss my pro ratae refund and was informed that the repayment had already been authorized and would be with me shortly.
So I must say that the whole business has been managed very smoothly by MRG, Volvo and Mondial. It's really pleasing when things go so well.

Lucky you. It is now two months since I brought this 'oversight' to the attention of both the dealer and Volvo and this has still not been resolved. Volvo continue to blame the dealer and the DVLA [sic] and the dealer continues to blame Volvo and the DVLA - who, of course, have nothing whatsoever to do with the purchase of breakdown insurance. All that is needed is for Volvo to instruct Mondial Assistance to provide the cover, but they clearly do not give a toss.

I have finally got the 'Volvo Assistance' cover I should have received in November 2010. That is eighteen months late, but who's counting?
