V70 d3 2.0 review?
Hi
The is my first post and hoping someone will help with my enquiry. I'm considering a v70 2.0 manual and wanted a user review of the pro's and con's. My annual mileage is 20k with 70% motorway, the probable year I will be looking for is 08/09. Fuel consumption is important but I expect I'll be fine as my min target is 40mpg ( I drive within speed limit) What's the pull like on the car and are there any known bugs coming out? Finally I'm looking for one with Bluetooth, are there any problems with android I've heard about a few? Any help would be appreciated. Ian |

you wont get a D3 that has only been out in the last couple of years . fabulous engine ( short stroke D5 ) the 2.0D in the V70 is the old 4 cylinder diesel from V50 etc .

I adore my D3, best turbodiesel I've ever had. Smooth 5 cylinders, sounds good, pulls beautifully. The 4 cylinder 2.0D doesn't come anywhere near in my humble opinion.

Hiya.
Not much of a review as I only have my s80 with 2.0d about three months. As for now done about 4k So just clocked 137k. Engine is good even to compare to my old vectra with 2.0 petrol. Turbo is kicking in quite early but thats a good thing for me. In a combine drive (short runs to work and back, occasional motorway run) it returns around 42-44mpg( I'm not a racer and car is biiiig). On a motorway run (around 500 miles from edi to scarborough and back) returned around 54 mpg which is great for me(planning to take it across europe). As for it's reliability...time will tell. For now no problems. Just done a service on last tuesday. Oil, filter, new air filter and runs even smoother. It's Euro4 so dpf filter. As for engine itself just check some mondeo or peugeot forums as that's is a shared engine to all they cars(and i think was shortly put in a Jag) |

The 2.0D works ok in the V70, the engine mounts are more refined in the V70 than It's normal home the V50/S40 so a good drive . fuel consumption reasonable but will never match the old D5 from 2001 - 2005 :-) Its not my favourite engine not due to unreliablity but its sound and harshness , i'm glad it's gone ... don't forget it needs service every 12500 miles rather than the 18000 miles of say a D5 which you should be able to coax similar economy from . ..
have a look at the official fuel consumption figures comparing the two , thats the only exact reason they are for , comparing two cars rather than showing what exact mpg you could/should get .

Thank you all for your replies, I will have another look at the d5, by the sounds of it the 2.0d doesn't match the new d3. I think the later is a bit out of my price range.

Budget upto 12k maybe more for the right car but wanted good spec se lux. Don't want sport as I want a smooth ride. Annual mileage about 20k and wanted to get car under 40k miles on purchase. Maybe a tall order but if I'm sure of what I want I can wait as my old reliable "99" golf is going strong. Thanks.
