Default 2001 S80 D5 acceleration problem

I purchased a 2001 S80 D5 about a month ago after a string of 740's and 940's. I'm very happy with the car but I have one problem that is puzzling me.

In the last week or so, I have been getting a power surge when driving at lower speeds or when slowing down at a junction, ie I slow the car down but it seems it wants to keep going (I can't think of a better way of describing it)

It doesn't happen every time but it is disconcerting, also I have noticed that the car will pull itself along at a steady ten mph (even uphill!) without my touching the accelerator.

The idle speed is a steady 700rpm in neutral, the car has 123k on the clock and has been well looked after with a FVSH

can anyone help ?

regards

Richard
