Default RIP 2017 V90 Inscription

Driving home from work yesterday afternoon, I was involved in a non fault accident, a car pulled out from bus stop into the side of my car as I was driving past it at between 30-40mph.

Major damage caused to passenger front door which took the impact, and then because I was in motion, went into the back door.

My passenger took a lot of photos of both cars whilst I got the details of the other driver.

From what I can see it needs at least two doors, the B post seems undamaged but there is a scuff mark where the passenger door bent towards it. No sill damage, no airbag deployment, no front end / front wing damage. There are some scratches on the rear wheel arch, but if replaced they would need to be blend into that anyway.

Both doors still open and close fine, and I drove it from the scene back home without any issues showing to the drivedrain.

I do suspect, that given the way things are at the moment it will be written off so that will be the end of this poor V90.

Damage done to other car, front wing, broken headlight and bumper.

If written off, what an ideal candidate to buy back and fix. Two doors from a scrappy and a bit of minor wing/sill repair and paint would likely be less than a grand.

I don't think that will be written off.
That is a repair candidate.

Same happened to my V40CC except it was a van emerging from a side street. I swerved away and the cheeky driver said I was travelling in the wrong lane because the end position of his van was in my original lane and I was in the opposing lane.

All sorted by Volvo Accident Management and I paid nothing. I was expecting to be hit by the Excess but Volvo sorted that.

Exactly. My wife did more damage than that hitting our gatepost, she didn't need any help from other road users to wreck a perfectly good V70.

Easy home fix with scrapyard parts that. No airbag deployment means you can do it at home.

Even if written off, that'll be through the auctions and back on the road in weeks.

The good news is, the other parties insurers have accepted full liability.

Car is being picked up Thursday for assessment then either repair or write off. At the same time Enterprise will be supplying a hire car.

My insurer is now out of the loop and I am dealing with the other drivers insurers directly.

In the meantime I am still driving it, got to use up all that diesel just in case. She looks pretty ugly, but continues to drive just the same as usual.

I am not even thinking about testing the front passenger window, I suspect the regulator is probably toast.

I have loads of pictures, so here is another one. The rear wheel arch is all paint transfer from the other cars plastic bumper, I suspect in theory I could remove all that damage from the area apart from the scratch but I'll leave it.

I expect it will, a one previous owner low mileage decent spec car with full Volvo service history.

Plus only £35 road tax, and no Adblue since it predates the installation.

Hopefully the insurer will authorise repairs in full but just in case they do write your V90 off it may be worth considering buying the salvage back from them and having it repaired as your cost.

This company in Preston specialise in parts, new and used, including doors etc from late model Volvos and may be able to help. I've never used them personally but I know a local bodyshop who recommended them.

https://www.volvobreakers.co.uk/

Looking at your photos it seems that two nearside doors and associated paintwork will get the job done, you may even find doors of the correct colour and swop your inscription parts over if they come from a Momentum or R Design V90.

Good Luck in whatever the outcome.
