Default just purchased my first volvo

just changed from a new shape omega elite 2.5 diesel,to a 2002 s80 2.4 se (140)as only now traveling 10 miles a week to work, car is an absolute dream so far, being very picky the only issues with it are the front lights, condensating up (guaze on back) and lights in general give poor visability, still would not go back to the omega.

Welcome!
I too have endless problems with headlights condensation, so no suggestion to fix.

Hi,

Anyone tried dropping a couple of bags of that silicate stuff to remove condensation??

Would also need work to stop ingress to the unit as well..

Des. . .

Just a suggestion guys, I used to own a bmw, they also have the cover at the back of the headlamp and also suffer from condensation inside the headlamp. One cure which I found was to remove the plastic cover from the rear of the headlamp and drill a couple of holes into it (approx 5mm) then replace the cover, no more condensation, worked a treat. I guess it must allow air to circulate therefore allowing moisture to escape from inside the lamp.

I also suffer from the condensation problem.

I've tried removing the back caps (and bulbs), hairdrying the units dry, driving with the caps off , applying Vaseline around the seals etc etc. It's easy enough to get the moisture out, but stopping it from coming back is near impossible!

The one thing I haven't tried is drilling the holes in the plastic cap, seems iffy as the caps must be there for a reason. May as well remove them as start making holes in them? And it wouldn't help the indicators or fog lamps much either!

The Volvo 'fix', which I had done on my car, is a new cap with a ventatliation port (presumably one way). Made little difference to mine.
