Quick Question - 96 440 Auto 2.0
Does a 96 2.0 440 auto have the CVT box or a "Normal" auto box?
Thanks!

Not necessarily.
My 460 Turbo has a 4 speeder. What's on the shifter Graeme? If it's a proper auto, the revs will rise and fall with changes. A CVT won't. Steve

Fair enough.
I knew Volvo decided to give the CVT another go in later 400s, but didn't realise they pretty much standardised them over the 4 speeder. Don't know about the 400s, probably not thinking about it as I'm sure they would have realised their mistake from last time and fitted an inhibitor, but the 300 CVT remains one of the only cars in history that will go just as fast backwards as it will forwards!! Lol Steve

The only engine fitted with the CVT was the B18U a great combination , fast and economical but the boxes only lasted about 70000 miles .

Picked it up today.............and it is a 4 speeder! (Phew).
But there you go, 1996, 2.0 auto - not CVT.
