No more sloppy stick !
Popped my new mount into frame and tightened everything up this morning
gearbox mount.jpg Took her for a little test drive after and the difference is amazing I supported the gearbox with a bottle jack and with the new rubber mount in I had to jack it up quite a bit to get the bolts on the sub-frame to reach. Quite surprised at how much the old mount must've been sagging.I spose after 23 years you would expect that ! A very easy job ( time consuming bit was wire brushing and painting sub-frame ) which has given great results Cheers, Mark

https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/...leaning.12686/ Before ^^^^^ After ^^^^^ I've used it for all sorts of things, works incredibly well, even freeing seized adjusters on Rover rear trailing arms that are notorious for rusting solid in their bores. It's also a slightly restorative process in as much as it plates good steel onto the work piece, only a microscopic amount but sometimes enough to make the difference between a rough finish and a smooth finish. The beauty of it is, once set up you can leave it to work overnight and it doesn't remove any metal from the work piece or damage any plating already on it.

Alternatively it might be an idea to invest in an "old skool" battery charger, although the CTEK units are good, they won't deal with a completely flat battery so if you ever leave your lights on or similar, you're snookered. Alternatively if you have a 12V power supply (not a switched mode type) you could potentially use that as well. A secondhand charger might be an alternative as well : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6amp-Batt...v/202660267735 Some people have even used DC arc welders to provide the power when de-rusting something big - how big i dread to think as my 10A charger has coped with most stuff i've done!
