Hi Yeoman,
I fitted mine about 2 years ago using the scotchloks provided (against my better judgement!!). No issues since then. I know they now do a plug and play harness which is much easier. This and a software update might help, other wise drop mods4cars a line if you haven't already. I think they are quite helpful. Best of luck sorting.

Any knock on a C70 now and its written off due to the complexity and high repair costs, so older models will dissapear quickly now I think. Worth hanging onto mine a while yet.

I’ve had no real problems with my SmartTop module, I have had to reprogram the 'passenger side mirror dropping when reversing' feature because it stopped working, but that’s all. Admittedly mine is the later plug and play version.
What do the supplers/manufacturers say? I’m not a computer nerd, but I’ve found that many a problem is cured by unplugging and starting again. Unless you’ve already done so and it made no difference, I’d try reinstalling as a starter. Hope you get it sorted. Malcolm

How did we cope before 'turn it off and turn it on again' !!
Think I might contact Smarttop and get the PnP cable, as sounds a better long term solution. No reports of smart top unreliability as far as I know, so as Malcolm says, give them a shout. If anyone has seen your problem, they will have. Good luck.

I got mine 1 Feb 2018, I upgraded from a Mk1 Coupe which was bought first of all as an emergency purchase to get me out of trouble, first Volvo, I thought a lot of car for the money, the previous car died on it's MOT. Two reasons I went for this one was mileage,39950 (47630 now) & tax, don't know why but auto. models registered after 23/03/06 are around £200.00 dearer to tax, manuals are the same bracket as mine but rarer to come across I think.. Mine's a mere youngster of an '09 but has 135,000 on the clock... 40k of them mine.
Had the timing belt done last summer, religiously change the oil with Castrol Edge every 7.5k, it did eat a couple of spark plugs last year, but I've put that down to being a faulty batch of plugs... no recurrence 6,000 miles after replacing them with another new set Wanted to chip in as a follow-up to the "turning it off and again thing"... Back in January after I stupidly managed to flatten the battery and had an AAA guy jump-start it for me... I kind of noticed the door locks behaving a little differently than before but didn't give it much thought until a few weeks later it was actually warm enough to put the top down. Hit the button and absolutely nothing happened - no errors, no warnings, not a peep. Hooked up Vida a day or two later and sure enough there was a code indicating that the CEM hadn't been able to talk to the roof module for 80 drive cycles... resigning myself to owning an overweight rattly coupe with an enormous boot, I decided I had nothing to lose by disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes. Hooked it back up, hit the button and heard the beautiful whine of the roof motor starting up... be aware that the huge flash of relief that comes from getting the roof to open again after it wasn't working is instantly wiped out by an overwhelming panic about the possibility of it opening but not closing again afterwards... at least closed it is still viable transport. |
