Cool XC60 Safety Recall R39044

G/day

Note this applies to Volvo S80, V70s and XC60 vehicles 2008 to 2010.

Volvo identified that the engine may not start, start roughly and/or run roughly at idle.

Corrective action is to upgrade the software in the Central Electronic Module.

Although my vehicle displayed none of the identified symptoms I had the upgrade carried out recently. There appears to be some other benefits to the process the vehicle acceleration response seems to have been improved.

Anyone else car to comment on what this upgrade actually adjusts in the engine management system.

Thanks

Gravy

Seems to affect the T6 and is in Australia. Looks to be the same recall on a thread here a week or so back someone else mentioned affecting XC60 T6's as well.

Does anyone here (from the UK) have a T6? From the threads seems most of the XC60 owners have the diesel option.

Just looked at the VOSA web site and there does not seem to be a recall, here in the UK, at this moment in time.

I have a XC90 T6 and have received a letter from Volvo with regards the recall.
Will get the letter out tomorrow while I call to book it in and let you know what it says.

Just for interest. I had a call from the agency three weeks ago for my AWD T6 XC60 for software upgrade on the CEM. I took the car over and it took them 20min to do the job. I have not noticed any change in performance but I knew they did something because I had to reset a lot of the settings which were lost during this exercise.

Yeap same here for our T6. Haven't experienced any problems though. I'm going to ask them to check all the electronics and see if there are any other software updates..
