Default Thinking about a T6 awd.

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere....

I'm thinking about coming back to Volvo after many years - have had a 122S, 145S, 240 Torslander and a late 960 - all estates. Currently drive a Saab 9-5 estate and I'm thinking about getting rid of the Saab and my G Wagen and getting an ex Police T6 awd.

Thoughts? Any particular watch outs with ex Police T6's?

I have just sold my T6 and got a D5 .
The problems to look for would be the same for any hard used car.
I.e has it ever been badly crashed , is the steering wheel straigh?
Does it go through all the gears properly , you need to go on at least a 10 mile run including slow and fast speed , to check the gear box, and the rest of the drive train.
Any excessive noise or crashing from the sepension ?
Will it pull up straight on the brakes, and drive true?
Are the dampers (shock absorbers) any good or does it wallow a lot?
Drive with the steering on both locks to check for noises.
Check the engine oil and coolent for sines of head gasket problems.
Check the front end of the engine for oil leaks, and around the back end for oil leaks from the vacuum pump.
Check the electric parking brake , and try every electric thing , windows , alarm , door locks ect.
Does the air con work , the same for the radio/CD player?
Is the interior ok ? Do the seat belts work?
Does it need new tyres or brakes?
Have it got all the keys or at least 2 sets as expensive.
They use lots of fuel , about same as 3.0l 960 auto. Hence I sold my T6.
My one was not an ex police car through, and I had no problems with it in the two years I had it.
I would get the auto box oil changed a few times , also change the other oils I.e. Transfer box, rear axil and heldex all wheel drive unit ,power steering , brake fluid and engine coolant.
Nice and quick cars more so in sports mode on the gear box( move leaver across to between the + and -).
Will likley need a grand or so spent on it, when you first get it, to get it up to scratch.
If you go for it enjoy it, I still miss my old one.
