Default RTI 2018 map update for 2012-2014

Volvo has issued a map update for RTI in S80, V70 and XC70 from model year 2012 to 2014. It's available for download from Volvo's map update web page.

Not managed to get the car to see it so far (2013 V70). Had the dealer S/W update two years ago, car currently runs 1100 V30.16.04.

Downloaded & verified today's update to FAT32-formatted 32GB USB stick. All files & directories are in the root of the stick, which has a single partition. The car won't see the stick

This is a cry for help!

I took the 64GB USB flash drive I last used to upgrade the maps and deleted all its contents. I then reformatted it in FAT32 just to be sure it was totally empty and clean. I then down loaded the latest map upgrade onto it and took it to the car. I turned on the ignition and inserted the flash drive into the USB socket in the central storage locker. Nothing happened. I then selected the media on the display screen and selected USB and received the message "Connect USB" . I then removed the flash drive and to be sure that the socket was still working, inserted another flash drive into it and immediately the message changed to "Reading USB". So I took out the test memory stick and the "Connect USB" message reappeared. Reinserted the drive with the upgrade on it and the system did not acknowledge that there had been a drive inserted. It still said "Connect USB"

How can I get the system to recognise the USB which can be read by my computer but not by the car?

Hi Tatsfield,

Have you downloaded the map to the USB key that does work?

On mine, I simply plugged the USB key in with the nav screen showing, a pop up window came up and it started to update.

The key I used was a mini Sandisk 64gb, formatted as FAT32 on a Mac, all files downloaded straight to the key with no folder structure, just the files.

Hope you get it sorted.

Cheers,

Nick

My download flash drive is also the SanDisk 64K! The test drive isn't large enough to contain the download. It's one I use to load PIOs for speed camera warnings icons on the Sensus while I have a TomTom for the audible full description warnings which I keep in the central storage locker. I only used it to prove that the USB socket does work. The SanDisk 64K has been used before for a map upgrade but I completely wiped and re-formatted it so that it was empty for the download. I don't know what else to do now!

I have the same issue. 'Datatraveller 100G3' 32GB USB. Tried the download under Windows & OS X: files are identical in both cases. Car shows no sign of detecting the stick, but it does with USB-based audio files. All files are in the root of the stick.

Dealer did the 2016 update at the same time as they updated the S/W, so I've never actually done this myself.

I have done it and I remember that the car recognised the data on the stick and set up an uploading system which allowed the process to stop when the car wasn't in use and start again when it was until the upload was finished. There's nothing left for me to do now except shout at the thing and that doesn't seem to work either!

I downloaded the update to a 32 GB USB drive, from the Swedish Volvo site.
I too had some problem, but that was writing to the USB stick. I had to use the command prompt in Windows 10 to do a full formatting before it wanted to move the update to the stick.
But once that was OK, I had no issue at all in the car. Inserted the USB stick alone, directly in the car's USB socket (no USB hub). After a few seconds it asked me to confirm a map update, and now it has started. Not completed yet, as the car hasn't been on long time enough yet.

I'm living in the hope that someone will have the same problem as TimS and I and have solved it and can pass on what they did to solve it. I'm wondering if I buy a new flash drive and format it whether it will present itself to the car in a way which allows it to upload, but I am getting desperate at this stage as I can find no logical way that I can present the data to the car through the USB that is really materially different to what I have already done.

Mine's going in later this week for service & other work, so I'll ask them to do it for me.

Tatsfield: is your running S/W version 1100 with maps V30.16.04?
