Default Having a bad day 🙄

So today I’m driving along and I get a bulb out warning light on the dashboard.
I’m quite near Halfords so I point in that direction and after messing around with the crappy parts machine which wouldn’t recognise my registration number I use common sense and pick up a 21/5w which looked the same.
So,in the car park I start messing with the fidgety bulb installation mechanism I eventually get it in straight....And then there’s a gust of wind that blows the bloody tailgate down onto my head as I’m standing up.
No more putting this one off,new dampers ASAP 🤬

Bummer! Sorry to hear about your head, hope you recover soon!

Meanwhile :

https://www.rockauto.com/

https://www.fcpeuro.com/

I got my bonnet struts from FCP and they came quicker than the tailgate struts i bought from a UK seller on ebay. Checking back, the FCP tailgate struts were a lot cheaper than ebay as well!

Still are from the look of things :

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...60-v90-9463056

At $10.68 each, even with S&H (USA version of P&P) you're probably looking about $25 delivered or thereabouts, equivalent to about £20 - if you're unlucky and the invoice price of the items comes to more than £15 on the day HMRC/Border Force get the package, you may get Import VAT @ 20% charged but then the Royal Mail (if it comes by them this end) also charge £8 for collecting the Import VAT - cheeky bar stewards!

As far as i know, if the same carrier delivers this end as ships it from the USA, they don't charge the money to collect the Import VAT if you're charged it.

Still usually cheaper and better quality than the stuff we can buy on ebay over here though!

Hey Dave, are the struts the same for the saloon? Mine has dropped on my head a couple times in the last week!

Nah, they're different Luke. I've searched for a 1994 940 and this is what came up :

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...526575-3526576

A mind blowing 16 bucks each! For the pair that's going to be about £22 + S&H/P&P and any Import VAT they may charge.

Those are for cars without a boot spoiler though, could be worth checking the length of them and then cross referencing against other cars/vans that have tailgates and finding a stronger version if you've got a spoiler.

Thanks Dave, I don't have a boot spoiler on at the moment but I have got one to fit. I don't think the spoiler weighs a great deal, either way they will be better the what's in at the moment haha.

Them tailgates ae heavy as you now know. I removed the struts on one a few years back and could hardly lift the thing never mind keeping it open with one hand while extricating stuff with the other.
Take care out there.

I’ve been there done that but without the blood. Replaced mine last year, my brother got the boot struts through work (A1 motorstore), they are the same as ones for some other makes of vehicle too (not entirely identical but work just as well).

I rested the tailgate on my head for my estate to change them, it was a bit awkward so got my dad to help in the end which made it a lot easier.
