Default 850 Clock illumination

No clock illumination. Presume there is a bulb behind facia and I have to remove facia to get at it.

Just the LCD clock display or the whole display?

Sorry, the reason I ask is some people refer to the whole display as the clocks. If it's the whole display I assume you've checked the dimmer switch?

If it's just the LCD bulb the yes, it's a case of removing the facia unfortunately. The whole procedure is in the Haynes Manual.

Regards

Andy

Is it possible to remove the trim from under the facia and reach up to the back of the cluster?

It is possible to see up to the back of the instrument housing with the panel under the dash removed, but I reckon you would need very nimble fingers to manage to change a bulb from that position. Perhaps someone out there has done it?

Having removed the complete dash of a V70 to replace the a/c evaporator, and found that if you are careful it isn't necessarily the horrendous job that some make out, I wouldn't even consider trying to get to the Instrument bulbs from below. There are only about 8 Torx fasteners holding the top on (all behind the air vents and speaker grilles), two above the instrument panel itself and two above the glove box (you need to remove the glove box to get at them). Once the dash top is off, you can unplug and remove the instrument pannel complete and get to all the bulbs. Total job time shouldn't be more than about 3/4 hour. No frayed temper or skinned knuckles!

Fury Muff.

I want to check the bulb to my service light, it never comes on. Not a major problem I know but just another niggle to iron out..
