i think that that indicates that your passenger airbag is live and that you must not place a rear facing child seat there.

I don’t know for certain and my car doesn’t have that light. However it’s showing a prohibition of a rear facing child seat in a front seat. Wonder if it goes off when the passenger airbag is turned off? As you can’t have an active airbag on the seat, if you’re using a rear facing child seat.
Does that make any sense at all 😂

I might be well off the mark here but I believe the front passenger airbag can (and should) be disabled if there is a baby seat installed in that seat.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if Volvo have a warning light to tell you it has been disabled, to stop you forgetting to re-enable it.
I reckon that's what you have there.

Default Child Seat Warning

Thanks for the replies. That makes sense that it's a warning the passenger seat airbag is turned on so do not install a child seat. Looking at the passemger airbag on/off switch inside the door post it soes have the same logo. I have tried, very gently, to turn this switch but it does not want to move to the off position. Not a problem as I am not going to ever have a child seat installed although I do have passengers. Strange that I have only just noticed it but it's not a bright warning sign so does not really bother me.
Thanks again

To turn it on (or off) you need to push the key in (heavily sprung so need to push in, doesnt just twist like child locks) and then twist.

When off you will see an orange light that says passenger airbag off.

Yes, folks all are correct. Definitive answer from Volvo Manual. Guess it's been on all the time and I've not noticed it !

Cars equipped with PACOS (Passenger Airbag Cut-Off System), which means you can enable/disable the rear - eh, sorry - passenger side airbag (we drive on the right side of the road here) using the key blade, they have this indicator to tell you if the airbag currently is on or off.

If I remember correctly, PACOS became standard issue in 2012. At least on the Swedish market. Such things may vary across markets.

Ya know what is weird, although its somewhat different, on my V70, the passenger airbag light only comes on if its switched off, like it is now, It's turned off because on of my dogs sits on the front seat. This is also the same for my old Laguna's

In our XC70's, the airbag light is always on in the ceiling. Either to tell that it's enabled (don't put child seats there) or to tell it's disabled (don't expect full crash protection).
