V70 washer system - what should this be connected to??
Hello everyone.
At the Crooked Billet on Saturday I was discussing the recent problems I am experiencing with my window washer jets. Simon Linton was kind enough to give the valves "mouth-to-mouth"... but to no avail. Anyway, I've found the problem - http://www.naiad.org.uk/images/IMG_3683_arrow.JPG the little yellow T-connector with nothing on the end of it is jetting all my screenwash away! (all over the front tyre, too...) Can anyone please advise me what this should be connected to? Strangely I can't find an unattached pipe in the area... Suggestions appreciated, as always. Alastair |

I assume the windscreen washer works?
As others have said, it could be headlamps or tailgate. I suspect you'd have noticed if it was the tailgate because it probably wouldn't be squirting as it should. Stand in front of the car and get someone to pull the windscreen washer. You should see water being sprayed onto the headlamps. If not then it's probably that. If you're still stuck for ideas why not just attach a squirter to it and aim it to the nearside so you can spray pedestrians as you go past }( . Regards Andy |

The windscreen washers do work - but feebly! As does the tailgate. The headlamp washers have never worked since there's no hose to them (ex-police car).
So I was wondering if this was the connector for the headlamp washers... which it may well be - but then the question is, why has it taken two years to start leaking??? I like the pedestrian squirter idea, I have implemented something similar in the past, but with cyclists and the rear washer jet on my mother's 480... Alastair |

I bet it went to the headlight washers and if they were removed the outlet of the T piece would have had a cap/plug fitted which has now come off. Try blocking the open outlet or fit a straight connector and full pressure may return to the windscreen washers.
Why dont the police like headlight washers? Simon |

Yes, I have done the cling-film-and-elastic-band trick and everything works again. Maybe a cap has fallen off as you say... I'll have to get a straight hose connector I think.
Thanks guys! Alastair |
