Default Hankook RA23 + Bridgestone Dsport - any experiences?

Hello

My quest for new tyres continues and failing to find anywhere locally what can source nokian tyres, and having quite a few of the tyre dealers saying they are 'budget' tyres and wouldn't reconmend them i've been looking at other options as well..

I've just been offered Hankook RA23's for £95 per tyre full fitted. Sounds like a good deal, but wanted to ask if anyone has any experience of using these - whats the performance, tyre life like etc?

Also been had a price for Bridgestone DSport's for £144 each. Same goes - anyone with any experience of these?

What's people's views on the 'budget' tyre tag that seems to be given to Nokian and Hankook? I'm not one for skimping on safety - so if they are actually worst than Continenals for stopping distance etc then i'd maybe think again, but not bothered about performance elsewhere as its a family car and not a performance car (for me at least)... so safety and good value for money is most important.

any advice much appreciated.

Ah, I see - perhaps nobody has got through a set yet to be able to say how long they last. My local tyre depot sell them and he uses them himself on his XC90.

I can't speak for Bridgestone or Hankooks but I use Pirelli Scorpion Zeros (18") and these are lasting really well. I'm having the two fronts replaced today and these have done approximately 14k over 14 months. The rears were replaced at the same time and still are nowhere near needing replacement. Cost per tyre is about £140. They have lasted much longer than the Dunlop Sport Maxx 17" on my V70 (approx 10k in 8 months).

Personally I don't skimp on tyres as they are the only thing between you and the road - I could probably get another couple of thousand out of my front tyres but winter is here and worn tyres don't stop as quickly in the wet. Safety for the family comes before saving a few quid!

I believe that these tyres are used on Range Rover Sports etc and can't recommend them enough.

I've taken the plunge and going for a set of 4 Hankook HP RA23's. Cost is £95 per tyre fitted which seems like a bargin. I did a bit of research on the internet and they seem to be regarded as decent tyres - not budget and not premium, so somewhere in-between and had some decent reviews from users, although mainly other SUV's and cars, not XC90's.

Totally agree with the last post about safety coming first as we normally drive around with our three young kids in the car, but I'm hoping that this brand isn't a compromise on safety - have the same rating as continentals and presumably are harder compound for better wear without compromising safety.. Nearly £200 per tyre for the continentals just seems stupidly expensive to me.

i'll update how they wear and perform and stuff at somepoint in the future on the forum.

General Grabber UHP's work perfectly on the XC90

Had them on a Grand Cherokee, and my XC90, and will be putting them on my Grand Cherokee when the (useless Goodyear Wranglers) OEM tyres wear out

I have had the Hankooks on the front of my T6 for around 15k now, I turned them on the rim at 13k and I think I will get another 7 - 8 k out of them. Low noise, good grip etc and at £90 a corner good value, put 2 more on the back last month as well.

How are they holding up? Thinking of fitting the same to my XC90 and have been quoted £124 per tyre fitted. Where did you get yours at £95?

Vredstien Wintrack 4 Extremes do more like 60,000 miles if you wear them down to the legal limit.
