Like the ride so far?. I like the way the car seems to stiffen up when you think its going to wallow, felt that yet?
It doesn't handle too badly for a heavy tallish vehicle to be honest, but the steering lacks feel compared to previous cars and that doesn't inspire me to push on too much on the twisty stuff.
I agree it handles pretty well though and body roll is well controlled for sure.

As an all round family car I love it so far

Well, I have now done about 800 miles on the new tyres in various dry and wet conditions and have to say they perform surprisingly well and noise pretty well controlled compared to previous summer Rosso's.

Gone is the awful sideways scrubbing of the Rossos and car feels well planted at all speeds

Thanks for all the updates. Very useful.

Are you saying that the car handles and rides much better now? Mine is on the Rossos too and I don't think that I am that impressed with them although as it's my first XC60 not much to compare to. The Contis on my V60 were very good and I have driven a couple XC60's with them with no issues at all.

Perhaps it is a pity that Volvo changed their allegiance to Pirelli.

Cheers.

Mike

You are talking about the verde all seasons I take it?

If so I told you I thought you would like them, they are a different experience to driving on other tyres.
I've got 6k on mine now, I've noticed no tread wear yet and they seem quieter than when first fitted (maybe I've just gotten used to them).

With the sound system off there is very little intrusion of road noise into the cab and I for one am very happy with them.

Forget about past experiences you may have had with pirelli tyres these are very different.I can highly recommend them.

Hi Mike

Was unimpressed with the Rosso on a wet performance and also the annoying sideways scrubbing they did at low speed turns. How much of that is down to fact they were worn down towards 3mm at front (5+ at back still) I am not sure.

They felt OK in dry and noise wise were fine

But these are first all season tyres I have bought having previously had Conti summer tyres and Goodyear winters on last two BMW's (I agree Conti tyre especially the Sportcontact2 s were simply awesome tyres) so wasn't sure what change to expect on the XC60. So far so good.

Towing performance and off road (field) will be tested later and obviously will need to wait till later in year for cold weather test

I guess most tyres will quieten down a little bit after they have worn down slightly as the new ones have 11mm tread blocks currently, but can't say they are noticeably louder than the well worn Rossos which is good

Only a shortish tow this weekend but fully loaded car and caravan, and mix of country and fast roads. All felt stable as always so another tick off the list

Hi,

Do you have any updates on the tyres? Particularly when towing your caravan in the warmer weather.

Also wear rate, noise levels, etc.

I am starting to think about whether to go this route later in the year or the traditional winter/simmer tyre combination with 2 sets of rims.

Thanks.

Cheers,

Mike

Apropos of this, I'm looking forward to seeing some CrossClimate reviews as more people buy them - looks like, if it lives up to the promises, the perfect tyre for the UK.

Default Tyres

I have pirelli scorpion verdes on my XC70 MY13.They are 235x50x18 97v M+S tyres .I find them a very comfortable ride and quiet .I tow a 1800 kgs caravan with the car and it handles very well and as people have said seem to be wearing extremely well. This last winter we didn't have any snow to speak of so can't attest to there use on snow ,however the car still felt firmly planted even in cold conditions.I sometimes give it a bit of gun going round the roundabouts and the car sticks pretty well .I think these are the best tyres I have had on my volvos so far.
