LOL You're right about turbobricks Roger - and they have very short tempers too! I tend to stand back and read, rather than contribute on that forum as if you don't get your facts 100% right you're shot down in flames immediately. At least on the VOC forum you can say 'I think... but I may be wrong'.

The Italian engine is a B204FT - and as you said, you may have problems with the steering clearance with the Italian manifold... but, as you'll probably need a new exhaust anyway, it may be better to get the whole lot made up at the same time, basing the manifold on the Italian design but modifying it for RHD.

I went with a 2.5inch system as I needed a replacement NOW (mine had disintegrated) and the fabrication shop only had a 2.5inch 100 cell cat in stock - no 3 inch jobbies 2.5inch is fine for my limited aspiration of 250bhp, but anything more than 275ish bhp will require a 3 inch system.

You're right about using an 8 valve L type block as a basis, then using the 16v head with lots of custom made bits. It'll probably be quite an expensive conversion, but the gains should be equally impressive. Take a look at Suterman's engine build http://forums.turbobricks.com/showpo...03&postcount=1 . Sadly the car caught fire a few weeks ago - but on the flipside, the new engine wasn't in situ at the time! Suterman's the one to speak to about the 16v conversion to be honest - he's done it and so can relate his experiences first hand.

Hope this helps a bit anyway

Yes, the 2.4 systems are adaptive. But the 2.2 are still digital.
The best thing to do if you are going to change an engine that much (cams/head/turbo) is to switch to an programmable aftermarket system and take it to a dyno/rolling road.

Default 16V turbo

THank you ROlling Thunder.

Am I then to infer that turboing the 16V is not practical and the only way to go is to 16V the turbo? Bum!

I think so Roger, although you'd be wiser asking the question directly on turbobricks - don't take my word as gospel on this one!
