V90 vs S90 suspension

If anything I find my V90 Rdesign on 18" wheels a little too springy on certain roads. Certainly a lot softer ride than 2011 Rdesign V60 and not comparable to Audi SLine. In fact, I am keen to experience the V90 on 20" wheels.

That sounds more like poorly controlled dampers than the being under-wheeled and over-tyred. Larger wheels will just thump more through the chassis but you’ll still have the bounce...

In general I've found air suspension [on other brands] to be as harsh or harsher than mechanical suspension.
My current XC90 with mechanical suspension is not particularly harsh or unduly firm [for me], but it is more 'sporty' than most SUV's. Not as hard as on a previous BMW X5 with Sport suspension though.
Either your model has firmer, shorter travel springs than the XC90, or there is something wrong with the spring they have fitted. It is a green plastic leaf spring, fitted across the back.
It is rather unfortunate that you need a well dampened and reasonably soft ride for your work and you have landed with a car that doesn't meet your need. Personally I do find that the suspension on my Honda CR-V is more soft than the XC90's and the boot is just as roomy on the new model.

Obviously you can use a gimbal to hold your camera steady. No idea how successful that is in the back of a car though.

I presume that you will be filming out of the rear with the hatch open and want something reasonably high performance. Something with a deep body [for your comfort if occasionally sitting in the back floor] and a rugged hatch hinge mechanism? The Range Rover is the obvious choice, at a price, with its shorter split tailgate.
