Default Strange Voice Message!!

I haven't been drinking, but I was in my XC70 today waiting at some traffic lights several cars back from the front and waiting to cross a "do not enter this box" section of road. As the lights turned to green I moved forward into the box and my radio screen flashed "ALARM" and a voice through the sound system said "Don't do that" - it made both my wife and myself jump. Is this something in the system I have not read about?

You local or national radio station activated the ALARM broadcast service.
And it sounds like someone in the studio told someone else off...

Had this last year, driving along (no radio on).... Alarm, Alarm, Alarm.... then silence.... scared me to death! Turned out local radio had hit emergency broadcast and clever Volvo radio picks up signal and turns radio on.

someone having fun and abusing the ALARM function in the FM radio , It is intended for the government to be able to send out Emergency messages in case of national disasters or similar .
Sometimes you get illegal stations broadcasting on the frequency hence false alarms as you drive around , But I reckon there was someone with a transmitter watching the box junction from a window perhaps ...

A belated thanks for the possible reasons for this situation.
