Default Flickering HD Xenon Headlights and orange triangle

Hi all great forum and looking for some help please. I have an XC60 13 plate. The headlights flicker on tickover especially the drivers side. And they also occasionally flash when driving. More the passenger side. Also when this happens an orange triangle on the dash flashes really quickly. I was told alternator regulator had gone sonthats just been replaced under warranty. The problem still exists so osnit nothing sondo with the alternator and a separate issue? I was advised that the alternator was previously overcharging at 15.2v and fluctuating which is why it was replaced. I was hoping this would cure the other problem but not so. Any ideas please.

15.2 volts is not overcharging. Who told you that?

It was National Tyres and Halfords they both confirmed the regulator had packed up. When the alternator was removed it had partly melted and a resistor had gone. Anyway I thought that’s what was causing the lights to flicker but they’re still doing it. Any ideas?

Could be anyone of many reasons. A bad earth, corroded connection, fake bulbs, etc.
It needs a competent auto electrician to work through the wiring checking for issues.

Ok thanks so it would probably be best to change the bulbs first then? What’s the difference between D1 bulbs and D3 bulbs please? Also is 6000 generally the best colour to get? Can you recommend any brands at reasonable prices? Thanks

I always get bulbs from the dealer to guarantee they are genuine - too many fakes out there, but be sure first as they ain't cheap.
Useful help here on bulb differences https://lumenshid.com/oe_bulb.html
