My V60 has this feature, although it’s buried in the climate control menu near the pre-conditioning option. Works well, but if you lock the car it shuts off to preserve engine heat for the next journey.

SAAB a long time ago had a thermos flask tank behind the glovebox which stored hot water from the previous journey and released it for the next cold start ... so instant heat .. new volvo models from 2004 have an electric heating element in the heater to give heat within a minute , that's why the heated screen is just a marketing device for UK weather .

Are you sure SPA Volvo's have this Clan. I ask as I've never known a car take so long to start warming the cabin as my D5 XC90, and we've previously had 2 other diesel cars. We can be well over a mile or so down the road before the car starts to blow any warm air.

I’d agree. Takes forever to get warm air out of the thing.

My petrol V40 certainly doesn’t have it either.

There are electric elements in the C pillars for the SPA cars rather than in the heater unit , probably because the spa cars are easily able to have the fuel pre start fuel burning heaters .

The V40 has them in the heater casing just like the car it replaced, the S40/V50/C70/C30 ..
