Default Check Engine / service message - whooshing - low(er) power

Hey all,

I've been reading a little about this issue and I think it's been replicated already and I hope I'm right.

Coming home today on the motorway I noticed some odd cruise control hesitancy going up a hill at 120kph. A little later in the journey I got an info message advising to check / service engine. There are no warning lights. Acceleration is much poorer than usual and consumption is higher during acceleration (though normal at maintaining speed)

I do notice a whooshing noise which corresponds to throttle - so I'm guessing I'm hearing the turbo gasping through one side or another. Going to go out and have a look at the hoses when the weather calms down but is this likely to be intercooler hose related? Is it a DIY fix (I've no ramp/stands)?

Thanks all.

Almost certainly charge pipe from turbo to inter cooler.
Full Volvo price for pipe in euro 156 from Irish main dealer,
They had several in stock
Easy fix
Compound breaks down at around 10 years age.
Happened my 2013 6mo ago.

Ditto. My 2012 XC60 D3 started doing that earlier this year and was quickly traced to a split hose to the turbo. I can’t remember how much it was to fix at my local independent, but (thankfully) cheaper than I expected - £150ish rings a bell.

Super, thanks guys, local indy has had a look at it and (after being cajoled to not *just* check the OBD readout) we see the hole in the intercooler. Waiting on part delivery, hope to know more about that on Monday.

The orange engine light has just come on, and the car is definitly in some
sort of restricted mode now, power and top speed both seem restricted. Is it safe to drive in this condition or am i risking damage if I drive it?
