  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Engines running LPG using a petrol ignition curve are very unlikely to suffer from either has LPG has a much higher octane rating. Also as LPG burns clean and gives no carbon deposits then hot spots caused by carbon build up are not very likely.

Yes LPG does burn hotter and will put extra stress on head gaskets and the exhaust valves but clearly not a problem for a well made engine in good shape. Engines that struggle to stay in tact when running on petrol and not going to last on LPG.

I could not find any well written pages on IC engine burn temps with different fuel and AFR's does anyone have any good links
