its not worth the bother I would try a car with them first , its not a ferrari , it is still very much under the control of the gearbox . just as easy to use the gear lever to do what ever you want to do with them ..
They are not in the accessory catalogue so i would very much doubt they would work ...

If I want to drop a gear to overtake it's still a toss up between pulling the gearlever into S mode to drop a gear or pulling the left paddle to drop a gear and then remembering to pull the right again to shift up afterwards.
In my opinion, a worthwhile upgrade for whenever I need to use it but most of the time I leave the gearbox to do its own thing. And yes, it adds a little bit of bling to the interior!
See my previous post for my "review" on this upgrade.
I don't believe paddleshifters were ever available in the accessories catalogue as Volvo sees them as factory order only even though you can purchase the parts separately and retrofit them.

Thanks both,

I already have the wheel so am definitely going to get it fitted. Yes, I agree it's not something that will be used all the time but I still want the option.

It's really just the volvo instructions I'm after, for removing and refitting the steering wheel. I know I've stumbled across it before but now cant find it again.

The golden rule has always been if it is not in the accessory catalogue you can't fit it . There will be no software in the system to recognise and take action on the steering wheel lever switches .
Spares are always available of course , And who knows , it may even use a different steering angle sensor ..

Thanks Clan, others seem to have done this, both on this form and swedespeed so I've jut taken it from them that it is possible simply by replacing the steering wheel.

Would you not agree?

I don't know what they have done ... all i can go on is by my experience of how software operated electrics are on volvos when adding accessories ..

I take your point a lot of Volvo options require software installation to activate.
However, the paddleshifter upgrade is genuinely plug and play. The wiring to control the geartronic from the steering column seems to be there already as the paddles are connected to the steering wheel multi plugs.
There are instructions to (literally) hack a regular steering wheel and add the paddleshifters and accomodate the wiring for these.
I don't know if this only applies to post 2012 facelift models when the paddleshifters became available. Never tried with the previous 2011 due it having the RTI system with the controls on the back of the steering wheel.
