Default volvo v70

i am getting a volvo v70 diesel, 52 plate, engine size 2461cc, off my son in law tomorrow and i was wondering what bhp the car has, as it seems very under powered, is it supposed to be this slow, and is there something i should check, or can do to help performance

It's a 163bhp with 340Nm of torque so should be neither slow or lacking grunt.
It may depend on what you're comparing it to or expecting though.

If it's a 52 plate, it will be a D5. 100%
Regardless, a well sorted 2.5TDi is still not sluggish.

I have a 2012 D5 and I can assure you that they pull like a locomotive on speed.

140, but it's a very muscular engine.

I drove a P1 TDI V70 automatic a few times as a courtesy car and I was amazed by the power and responsiveness. It was a bit noisy in the P1 but it sounded a lot like a V8 muscle car, so I wasn't grumbling.

I second that.
Had a 140 bhp tdi P1 v70 for 10 years, mine was manual. Relentless torque and ability to go like a scalded cat once the wheels rolling. Towed the caravan with no problem and maintained legal limit on motorway up hill and down even with the wall behind it..
Yes the exhaust roar was a joy when you hit the loud peddle, far more enjoyable than the muted fart of the current P3 xc70.

Paul.

The D5 in the P3 XC70 does have a muted exhaust note but I still hear it as a growl when I put my foot down. I used to have a V6 petrol engined car of a similar power output to the D5 and that snarled under full acceleration but I'm not disappointed in the P3 sound effects.
