Did you have any luck with this? I just got this error today in my S40...

Looks like i'll have to get my hands dirty at the weekend pulling it out, I can hear mechanical movement but sounds like something is jammed. Hopefully it can be 'persuaded' to free up.

Was ok before going in for a service and the first time I use it after...

Hi Ian,
the VADIS disk is ideal - it gives a good description in there on how to remove the unit and in what order to disconnect things. Seems pretty straight forward - but wouldn't want to do it with out VADIS info as it tells you where all th escrews are aswell./
Good luck.

Cheers
Ian.

I have a similar problem at the moment. I have taken the CD unit out. Thankfully it is relatively straightforward to remove.

The CD mechanism is quite complex. I could not work out how to open up the unit to get the disks out without damaging it.

Given the price quoted I will have to look at a second hand unit.

I managed to get a disk out but still got deck error - did it again and still got deck error....

The insides are so complex i'm sure its completely buggered inside now.. grrr. I've been advised in the S40 forum that the CD stack is linked by software to the car so needs to be a dealer replacement. Not sure if the same for XC90..
