fuel filler
as we know the filler nozzle at a petrol station is made to cut off fuel when the tank nears being full.i think its caused by the air blow back from the tank to prevent you spilling fuel all over the forecourt.on my xc90 this appears to happen when i,ve filled to just over half a tank and after that getting more fuel in is a problem as it constantly blows back and cuts off the pump.has anyone had this problem ?.this is my first post on this forum thanks.

xc90 fuel filler.
thanks for that.it would appear there may be some sort of design fault with the pipework between the filler and the tank that causes a possible back surge of fuel resulting in the safety cut off at the nozzle.

Have you tried filling up at different fourcourts in case it's a problem with the pump sensors?
Also what model do you have? Is it petrol or diesel? Roy

Does the T6 have a breather tube to stop the fumes building up pressure in the tank while your filling up? It's a long time since I had a petrol Volvo I'm afraid. I seem to remember my 240 had a tube of some kind that could get blocked though.
Roy

Seems very strange, I have a T6 but have never had a problem like this - being a T6 it gives me plenty of practice at the pumps!

I do wonder if the garage pump pressure switch is set too low and when pressure starts to rise in the cars petrol tanks it trigger the pump's switch early. Try a couple of different garages and see if it's consistant. Roy
