Shockingly yes. Much better than my P1 1783cc one. We were lucky to get anything near 40 and that was down the hill

Then we got stuck and once I started driving on the country lanes I started using lower gears and pushing the car a lot more. and did the last 10 miles on the A13 on 3rd and 4th gear doing 70ish+.... By the tim I got home my mpg was 37.something.

The T4 is only about 10 mpg less than my 1.9D on the motorway. Where I think the T4 will drink a lot more is on lower gears and city driving. Trust me. I thought it was going to drink petrol but it seems to be more economical than the standard 2.0l one with no turbo
Aonther way to look at, I did 450 mile run from scotland down home and there was just under 5 litres or so left in the tank. so about 55 litres used, which is ~12 gallons, 450/12 = 37.5 mpg.

Nice and economical on a long run, especially so for a such a powerful mid sized car, but around town the mpg will drop off dramatically so try not to use the turbo unnecessarily and stay clear of congestion areas...if you can that is.

If you're relaying on the trip computer, then don't.

Just last week I conducted a test of driving at higher RPM, in lower gear to see if it turns out more economical. You may think I'm mad but on the INSTANT readout, my MPG was always pretty decent (i.e 32mpg+ in gear 2, 2,800rpm.) So anyways, I tanked up as always but this time with just a little over 14 litres (or just over 3 gallons) The light had JUST come on, so it was the perfect test.

So there I am poddling along on the second day, and surprisingly my AVERAGE MPG is showing 23-24MPG and I thought "GREAT!" Come the next day the fuel light reappears, suprised, I check my miles covered (56 miles?) and did some math as I was a little confused.

I averaged 23.5mpg so 23.5 x 3.1 gallons = 72.85 miles. ?? I then worked out: 56 miles divided by 14.10 litres x 4.34 = 18mpg dead!

What really ****ed me off is my average MPG readout has always been dead on accurate, I was over the moon when my average was showing 23-24mpg+ in the city but the moment I changed my driving habit, the car was some what half confused. (even though I did reset the trip computer.)

Even @ 65-70 it may actually be miles off because of the change of driving style...? Who knows.
