Default S40 T4 SE - 2001 for sale

For sale: 2001 X S40 T4 SE. @ 162k miles - £450
Email: benfarrell at yahoo dot com

Priced low as I am wanting to change cars and there is a fault that needs fixing - There is a grating noise from aux belt area around 1500-2000 revs. Most likely the alternator bearing/pulley needing replaced (common fault +100k miles). Car drive fine currently. Can either fix the fault or just use car for donor parts

MOT and Tax till June till June 2012. Car was registered early 2001, so road tax is only 215 instead of 275 per year and is Phase II with no mods.

Specs: Green, SE with full leather trim + almost fully spec'ed out (no heated seats, sun roof or CD-changer).

Engine runs great no CEL or any warning lights. Starts first time cold or hot. Recently managed to get all the back from Scotland (450 miles) on one tank.

Plenty of meat left in tyres, brake pads and discs. Body work is OK given the age and millage, except for the drivers front wing has had a little knock which has pushed out wheel liner slightly. The front of the grill and bonnet has a few stone chips.

Service history: book stamped up to 126k either by main dealer or Volvo specialist. Servicing done indy since then, with oil changes roughly every 6 months.

End of 2008 (@140k miles) it was running bad - so changed coil packs + leads. But turned out head head-gasket had gone (slow coolant leak + warm summer). Repair involved new head-gasket, themostat, timing belt, aux belt, spark plugs .. etc.. all done by a Volvo specialist (ex-dealership team) using genuine parts. Both O2 llamba sensors where replaced shortly after, and MAF, IAC and throttle housing cleaned to clear persistent check engine light Fuel Pressure regulator was been changed last year. This year all the rubber engine mounts have been changed and new rear tyres fitted over the Xmas period.

I am really tempted. Are the alloys 16" and has the turbo been refurbished recently?

turbos not had any work on it, whines when starting to spool up (been like that for years) still boast fine. Will take some pics of the seats soon. Drivers seat buttom cushion is a little poor, and had a bag of salt in the boot whic leaked out and there is a bit of bubbling in one of the seats might be possible to take the cover off and wash it then stretch it. Only ever been me in the car and no tears or marking.

Thanks

When do you have to sell it by? I am 95% sure I am getting it. If you can just send a couple of photos from the interior at my email address and I will give you an answer instantly. I will then also pay a deposit in your paypal if you want.
